A month in Barcelona!
So I have been here for a month now and I can definitely say that moving to this city was a great decision. Life has felt like a vacation eventhough I am slowly starting have some routines, life is still full of weekly new experiences. What experiences, you ask. So it was definitely a bad idea to wait two weeks with updating my blog, because I am extremely forgetful. I will try my best to list everything and if I have enough energy put them in the correct order.
As the weeks before my baseline has become working, bouldering and having multiple dinners with the roommates through out the week. Alongside going out on Friday and having brunch with the roomies on the weekend. I am getting used to the situation at work a bit more. I can't say that it is necessarily better but I definitely feel more at ease.
So from last week I remember having two board game nights, my roommates really like board games so we invited a friend over the first time (lost everything that night) and went to a queer board game event on the weekend (won everything). I told my roommate that I had collect a set of approximately 20 board games back in Amsterdam and they have given me shit about the fact that I gave almost all of them away. We will just have to build the collection from the ground again.
Furthermore, I joined a volunteering organisation that locally helps people in need. They have multiple activities but for now I have helped out at their idea of a soup kitchen, giving meals to homeless people. It was a very cool experience and also a way to experience another side of the city. Definitely something I will be doing more often. The organisation will be hiring a Data Analyst soon and if this person is hired they would like me to support with the them Data Analytical activies.
Next, I have been seeing this guy for 4 weeks now so eventhough everything is still very go with the flowy. I enjoy our time together. He has showed me a lot of good parks in BCN, teaching me how to rollerblade and loves to hangout with my roommates as well.
Last monday, I was chilling with roommate on the balcony and we decided to throw an airplane to our neighbours balcony (the throwing was not working so we used a broom). We wrote a note on the airplane explaining that we saw that they also had a pride flag on their balcony and were wondering if they would like to come over for dinner. They answered and we are planning to have dinner together somewhere this week. They are a guy and girl who are best friends also queer and living in Barcelona for ten years. Will keep you guys updated.
On wednesday I went to this open mic session with poetry, comedy, singing and spoken word. It was super fun, moving! I am hooked. It feels super cozy like a group of friends but the quality of the event was so good.
Thursday, I went to a friend for movie on the balcony and watched a real cool queer Kenyan movie with their friends. Both the people there and the movie was really nice. It is a recurring thing so I might become a regular.
Yes, I also notice that the word queer has appeared in almost everything that I have done the past weeks. Eventhough, it is not something that I purposefully seek out. I have been enjoying being surrounded by people with similar experiences a lot. My roommates have introduced me to this community and these events and it has been a blast.

So yeah, having a great time but missing you all. I think of you guys when doing all these things and how I would love to share them with you guys. So please drop a text if you have room to come visit me <3. Until the next one!
